DEM Sports Cricket Nets used on the One Show for All Stars practice
You may have seen the One Show on 30th July. Towards the end of the programme, there was an item about an initiative to get more children involved in sport, particularly playing cricket – building on the so-called ‘legacy effect’ from the Cricket World Cup, and in advance of the Ashes series, which started last week. It also highlighted an England and Wales Cricket Board initiative called All Stars, where 10000 free taster cricket sessions for children are available across the country this summer.
Matt Baker and Stacey Dooley were joined by Mike Gatting, the former Middlesex and England cricket captain, and Isa Guha, cricket commentator and former England cricketer, to talk about the drive to get more children involved in cricket from a young age. The net used for the practice session was provided by DEM Sports – great bit of publicity for us though sadly we weren’t allowed to have the DEM Sports logo visible. Great to see Mike Gatting, and a whole bunch of young children, bowling at Bob Mortimer and Paul Whitehouse and having a lot of fun.
